Email marketing, like all digital marketing strategies, has tips and tricks that can improve the effectiveness and maximise results. Also, some of the common mistakes that can be avoided will be highlighted. Here are some of the best practices in email marketing

1. Segmentation and Personalization

The ability to personalise emails according to subscriber’s behaviour, preferences or demographics makes email marketing attractive to marketers. Addressing the subscriber by name or even sending them recommendations based on their browsing history means they will get relevant information unique to their purpose/interests.

Segmenting subscriber’s email list means grouping them based on common criteria, such as location, previous purchase allows for more targeted and relevant content. The impact of this is shown in results, as according to research, segmented email campaigns receive 14.31% more opens and 100.95% more clicks than non-segmented campaigns (Campaign Monitor, 2021).

2. Ensure It’s Optimized for Mobile Devices

Most people access their emails on their mobile devices, therefore, it is important to ensure the emails are mobile-friendly (Litmus, 2022). To ensure the mails are optimised for mobile, limit image size, use a single-column layout for easy viewing and keep the subject lines short and compelling. Reduce the text and have concise call-to-actions (CTAs) that are easy to click. The aim is that the email increases the chance of user interaction and improves the click-through rates and likelihood of unsubscriptions.

3. A/B Testing

One of the perks of email marketing is the room it gives for A/B testing. This helps the marketer to determine what resonates most with the segmented audience. With A/B testing, the marketer can try out different subject lines, text and graphics layout, CTAs, sending times (the best time of the day or best day of the week to send out emails). Regular A/B testing helps refine approach and, over time, increase open rates and conversions (HubSpot, 2022).

4. Strong Calls to Action (CTAs)

A clear and compelling CTA is essential for driving action. CTAs should be prominent, benefit-oriented, and easy to find. Keep them simple, yet persuasive. Avoid the use of generic terms like “click here” and go for more actionable phrases like “Get your discount now” or “Explore the col.” Stick to using one primary CTA to avoid confusion your subscriber. Ensure only one primary CTA per email to avoid confusing the reader. Simple yet persuasive CTAs can increase conversion rates significantly.

While following best practices can boost the email campaign’s effectiveness, there are email marketing errors that can limit success.

Lack of Clarity: An email without a clear objective or benefit will confuse subscribers and lead to a low click-through rate. Email must have a specific purpose, which could be to inform, promote or engage the audience.

Not Maintaining a Clean List: Regularly clean the mailing list to remove inactive or disengaged subscribers. Failure to do this will affect deliverability of emails and engagement rate. Failure to remove inactive or disengaged subscribers will affect deliverability and engagement rates. Regularly clean your list to avoid high bounce rates and potential spam issues (Klaviyo, 2021).

Perfecting email marketing will involve some trials, errors and successes, most especially for those new to it, but bearing these practices in mind, while avoiding these common errors will help businesses craft effective email campaigns that will be a bit with their audience.

Exploring the Healing Power of Music for Mental Health: A Spotlight on the Global South Arts & Health Week https://dwadpro.co.uk/2024/10/27/exploring-the-healing-power-of-music-for-mental-health-a-spotlight-on-the-global-south-arts-health-week/ https://dwadpro.co.uk/2024/10/27/exploring-the-healing-power-of-music-for-mental-health-a-spotlight-on-the-global-south-arts-health-week/#respond Sun, 27 Oct 2024 15:06:01 +0000 https://dwadpro.co.uk/?p=414 […]]]> As we celebrate Black History Month, we’re reminded of the powerful contributions of Black creatives in shaping arts and health an intersection where expression, culture, and well-being converge. This year, the University of Aberdeen presents a special event during the Global South Arts & Health Week, focused on “Music for Mental Health in Black Communities.” Set to take place at the prestigious Sir Duncan Rice Library, the session promises an inspiring exploration of music’s impact on mental health, especially within Black communities.

The idea that music influences mental health is far from new. For centuries, music has been a source of comfort, healing, and emotional expression across cultures and communities. In Black communities especially, music has historically been a form of resistance, resilience, and recovery. It’s been used to tell stories, foster connections, and create safe spaces for expression. In therapeutic contexts, the benefits of music are even more pronounced research increasingly shows that music can reduce stress, alleviate depression, and foster a sense of community and belonging.

At the heart of this event is the belief that music isn’t just an art form but a bridge to better mental health, a theory inspired by Dr. Olushola Ajinde’s mentor, a notable advocate for integrating music and arts into mental health practices. For this mentor, who has used these methods successfully with patients over the years, music is more than entertainment, it’s a powerful tool for mental and emotional healing. Dr. Olushola Ajinde continues this legacy, bringing the concept to the forefront for this upcoming event.

As part of Black History Month, this event also acknowledges the invaluable contributions of Black artists and healers in shaping the world of arts and health. The influence of African, Caribbean, and Afro-diasporic musical traditions, from jazz and blues to reggae and hip-hop, has permeated global culture and wellness practices. This event shines a light on the cultural heritage of Black creatives, recognizing the ways they’ve used music as a vehicle for healing, protest, joy, and mental fortitude.

This celebration of music’s therapeutic power is set for:

 • Date: Tuesday, October 29, 2024
 • Time: 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
 • Location: Sir Duncan Rice Library, University of Aberdeen

Esteemed speakers will share insights, including Dr. Olushola Ajinde, Ph.D., who brings a wealth of knowledge in mental health and its intersections with culture; Glory Elofuke; Loliya Akobo, Kagher, PhD; Kunle Adewale; and Ollie Folayan, MBE (PhD CEng FIChemE).

For many, music’s effects on the brain can be transformative. Studies show that listening to music can trigger the release of dopamine, a “feel-good” neurotransmitter, leading to improved mood and reduced anxiety. Music therapy, a formalized practice, utilizes these effects to help patients manage stress, recover from trauma, and improve cognitive functioning. For Black communities, music therapy can offer culturally relevant tools that resonate with ancestral traditions and contemporary experiences.

In Black communities, music has historically been intertwined with healing practices. This includes the use of drums, call and response songs, and communal gatherings where music serves as both celebration and healing ritual. During this event, the speakers will explore these themes and demonstrate how music, when combined with modern therapeutic approaches, can offer impactful solutions for mental health challenges, particularly in communities that have historically faced stigma around mental health.

The Global South Arts & Health Week event isn’t just about celebrating music; it’s about fostering an inclusive community dialogue around mental health and wellness. By focusing on Black communities, the event emphasizes the importance of diversity in mental health approaches and the need for culturally informed practices. It also aligns with broader efforts to destigmatize mental health conversations and ensure that individuals feel supported, heard, and seen.

This event is not only for mental health professionals or Black communities but for anyone interested in understanding how the arts can be a pathway to healing. Attendees will leave with an enriched understanding of how music transcends mere entertainment, impacting mental well-being in ways that science is only beginning to fully understand.

This unique session at the University of Aberdeen is an invitation to experience the healing power of music, learn from pioneers in the field, and celebrate the enduring legacy of Black creatives in arts and health. Whether you’re an advocate of mental health, a lover of music, or simply curious about the interplay between culture and wellness, this event offers something for everyone. Together, let’s honor the contributions of Black creatives, explore the transformative potential of music, and advocate for holistic wellness within our communities.

Mark your calendars for an evening of powerful discussions, soulful music, and vibrant community at the Global South Arts & Health Week.

Celebrating Diversity and Excellence at the Black Scottish Awards 2024: A DWAD Pro LTD Reflection https://dwadpro.co.uk/2024/10/02/celebrating-diversity-and-excellence-at-the-black-scottish-awards-2024-a-dwad-pro-ltd-reflection/ https://dwadpro.co.uk/2024/10/02/celebrating-diversity-and-excellence-at-the-black-scottish-awards-2024-a-dwad-pro-ltd-reflection/#respond Wed, 02 Oct 2024 03:38:24 +0000 https://dwadpro.co.uk/?p=379 […]]]>

As we pulled up to the Radisson Blu Glasgow, excitement filled the air. My husband, Babatunde Adetutu, had been nominated as a finalist in the prestigious Professional Rising Star category, and the evening was poised to celebrate not just his achievements, but the accomplishments of many outstanding professionals across the Scottish Black community and their allies. The Black Professional Scotland Awards, organized by the visionary Enoch Adeyemi, was a night dedicated to excellence, diversity, and the power of hard work values we cherish deeply at DWAD Pro LTD.

Enoch Adeyemi; Founder’s Speech

Upon entering the lobby, we searched for our table number displayed on the screen, a subtle detail that added to the event’s well-organized atmosphere. As we made our way into the grand event hall, we were greeted by the Yoruba eulogy “Ise ni Ogun Ise,” meaning “Hard work is the antidote to poverty.” Hearing these words, I was immediately reminded of my cultural heritage. The opening speech by Enoch Adeyemi beautifully integrated this message, translating it into English for the diverse audience. It set the tone for the evening a celebration of identity, resilience, and global unity.

We were seated at a table brimming with energy and diversity, surrounded by an amazing group of individuals from various cultural backgrounds including Scottish, Nigerian, and Mexican and representing a wide array of professions, including entrepreneurs, member of the police force, and executives from different industries. It was a true testament to the event’s focus on diversity, which aligns perfectly with one of DWAD Pro LTD’s core pillars.

This wasn’t just an evening of celebration; it was also a powerful networking opportunity. The joyful atmosphere at our table was palpable. People were eager to connect, share their stories, and celebrate each other’s successes.

The evening was filled with cultural activities that brought the room to life. Traditional dances and music bridged cultural divides, uniting everyone in the room through the universal language of art. The food was a delicious three-course continental meal which was another nod to the diverse audience, ensuring that there was something familiar for everyone.

The MCs for the evening, Tosin Ogunlesi and Asabea Owusu, carried out their roles with grace and professionalism. Their ability to seamlessly navigate the evening while representing different cultural backgrounds added an extra layer of inclusiveness to the event.

As the awards ceremony progressed, it became clear that this night wasn’t just about recognizing individual achievements but celebrating the collective excellence of the Black community and its Allies. The categories were designed to highlight those who have excelled in their respective fields, and our table was particularly special, with four nominees seated with us. Out of these four, three emerged as winners, including my Husband, Babatunde, who won in his category of Professional Rising Star. The pride I felt in that moment was indescribable, while it wasn’t just his victory but a triumph for all of us who believe in the power of perseverance and community.

No celebration is complete without capturing the memories, and the event offered a taste of Nigeria’s Owanbe vibe with the 360-degree rotating camera that allowed us to capture our most elegant moves and poses. The backdrop, showcasing all the event’s sponsors, provided a great spot for photos, and the branded photo booth gave everyone the chance to take professional pictures with their awards. It was an evening of glamour and joy, with a perfect balance of elegance and fun.

After the awards, the networking session allowed guests to exchange ideas, share views, and learn from one another. It was an invaluable opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations that will undoubtedly spark new partnerships and collaborations in the future.

The night ended with live music and dancing, allowing everyone to let loose and celebrate not just the awards but the strength and unity of a community that continues to push boundaries and excel. The band played on, and the dance floor filled with vibrant energy, ensuring that the evening ended on a high note.

The Black Professional Scotland Awards was an event that perfectly embodied DWAD Pro LTD’s values. The celebration of diversity was evident in the range of backgrounds represented. The recognition of workmanship accomplishments was showcased through the award categories, celebrating the professional achievements of the Black community and their allies. And finally, the event fostered dialogue, providing space for people to connect, share, and learn from each other.

At DWAD Pro LTD, we believe in the power of coming together across cultures to create something bigger than ourselves. This event was a shining example of how diversity and excellence can be celebrated on one stage, and we are proud to have been part of such an inspiring evening.

We look forward to continuing to create spaces where diversity thrives, accomplishments are recognized, and meaningful dialogue is fostered both within Scotland and beyond.

This experience has left a lasting impression, not just on me but on all who attended. It was a night that will be remembered, not just for the awards and accolades, but for the community it celebrated. And as DWAD Pro LTD continues to grow, we remain committed to these values Diversity, Workmanship Accomplishments, and Dialogue while looking forward to future events that inspire, connect, and celebrate excellence.

Content Marketing Pitch For Travel Agency, Around The World Travels https://dwadpro.co.uk/2024/09/04/content-marketing-pitch-for-travel-agency-around-the-world-travels/ https://dwadpro.co.uk/2024/09/04/content-marketing-pitch-for-travel-agency-around-the-world-travels/#respond Wed, 04 Sep 2024 22:47:42 +0000 https://dwadpro.co.uk/?p=376 […]]]> Hi, my name is Adetutu and this is a content marketing pitch for travel agency, Around the World Travels to boost their content marketing efforts. The aim is to engage potential travelers, build brand loyalty and boost website traffic and conversions.

In light of this, here are the four content marketing options I believe would suit the business better, compared to the other options.

 1. Travel Guides and Tips

The website would have information focused on destination guides about popular, trending and also emerging destination spots that travelers would be interested in.

The content would also have information on the cultures of the people in that area, so as to ensure the traveler is up to date on the dos and don’ts of the area, practical tips on spots they can go, to broaden their experience as well as activities they can do during their visit. Information that also includes where to eat and others that can help travelers plan their trips efficiently.

The blog must also include content that offers valuable tips such as packing hacks, budget travel advice, travel checklist for different locations.

This will position the travel website as a trusted resource.

2. Social Media Campaigns and User-Generated Content

There is barely anyone that uses the internet that doesn’t have a social media presence. Platforms like Instagram, Tiktok, Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest continue to garner popularity. Any business/organization without a social media presence is missing an opportunity to improve their audience base and also the opportunity to engage their audience. There are many travelers online and people rely on information from others on social media to make certain decisions, which include patronizing a business or visiting a spot. Actively posting on social media, hopping on trends, hashtags can help with visibility. This visibility can be directed to the website as well.

In addition, encouraging the audience to engage with specific hashtags can drive user-generated content, which will help with credibility, as people relate better with a face and such content from others can also be used on the social media platforms of the business.

3. Video Content and Virtual Tours

Travel vlogs and virtual tours of destinations provide an immersive experience that captures the essence of a location. This is what the audience loves to see. The website can host the virtual tours of these areas, while the social media platforms can have snippets/clips of these places to garner interest. Having a Youtube channel may also be a way to both publicize the business as well as make money off views.

This is preferable to audio/ podcasts because with travel it is easier to appeal to sight than to ears, to attract travelers

4. Email Newsletters with Personalized Recommendations

Email marketing will always be a powerful tool for keeping potential travelers engaged. Email marketing would give the business the opportunity to send personalized travel recommendations and exclusive deals to those who may have interacted with the website at one point or based off their searches. This would nurture leads and encourage bookings. It is as “personal” as it can get, with email marketing.

These four content marketing options were chosen, against the others because the target audience is more likely to latch on to the offerings of the business and convert faster, within a reasonable budget.

A Memorable 7-Day Retreat at Hill of Tarvit Mansion: A Journey Through Culture, History, and Relaxation https://dwadpro.co.uk/2024/08/21/a-memorable-7-day-retreat-at-hill-of-tarvit-mansion-a-journey-through-culture-history-and-relaxation/ https://dwadpro.co.uk/2024/08/21/a-memorable-7-day-retreat-at-hill-of-tarvit-mansion-a-journey-through-culture-history-and-relaxation/#respond Wed, 21 Aug 2024 05:36:09 +0000 https://dwadpro.co.uk/?p=363 […]]]> By Olushola Adetutu

When the idea of planning the Cultural Fusion Event was put on hold due to adequate planning and the immense interest from the National Trust for Scotland (NTS), I knew I needed a different approach. To truly understand how best to align our vision with that of the NTS, I decided to take a hands-on approach; A 7-day retreat at National Trust for Scotland – Hill of Tarvit Mansion, a place steeped in history and Scottish heritage.

But this wasn’t just any retreat, it was an exploration of how cultural exchange, history, and leisure could seamlessly blend together. With my family and close friends by my side, we embarked on a journey that was as enriching as it was relaxing. Here’s how our week unfolded.

After a long trip, we arrived at the charming West Cottage, our home for the week. With the cool Scottish air welcoming us, we settled in, but not before enjoying a homemade Nigerian dish, Yellow Eba and Efo Riro (Stewed Spinach). It was the perfect meal to ease into the evening, allowing us to unwind and get a good night’s sleep.

The day began with a hearty Scottish breakfast prepared by my friend David—toast, scrambled eggs, and bacon, all enjoyed in the cozy ambiance of the West Cottage. In the afternoon, we set up a hot tub in the enclosed private garden, and the kids transformed the outdoor tent into their private club.

For dinner, I prepared Nigerian Jollof rice with plantains, which was a hit with everyone, especially little Nazanine, who described it as “very spicy, but if you eat it quickly, it’s very delicious!” The day ended with a fun-filled evening of games and a pillow fight, with everyone in high spirits.

We started the day with French toast, The mobile hot tub was the highlight, offering us all a heavenly soak, even as light rain began to fall. What better way to spend a rainy Scottish day than in a hot tub? We heated the tub to the perfect temperature and relaxed as the gentle rain fell around us. The kids later explored the woods and the majestic Hill of Tarvit Monument. Dinner that night was classic American comfort food, cheeseburgers and pizza, enjoyed in the warmth of the cottage as we shared stories from our day.

Determined to explore despite the Scottish weather, we set off for St. Andrews, a city with a rich history and plenty of attractions for both kids and adults, known as the birthplace of golf. Although the town was bustling with the AIG golf event, we managed to find parking and enjoyed an educational visit to the St. Andrews Aquarium, where we marveled at the sea creatures, although the kids were disappointed not to see any dolphins or octopuses.

Lunch was a delightful mix of Nando’s chicken and Cromars Fish and Chips, each meal leaving us more satisfied than the last. The evening brought a moment of reconciliation and bonding among friends, making our retreat even more meaningful.

Back at the West Cottage, we resolved a little misunderstanding amongst the ladies—nothing that a heartfelt conversation in the garden couldn’t fix!

In the evening, we relaxed at St. Andrews Beach, its fine sand and calming waters offering the perfect end to our day. We capped off the night with a satisfying meal from Maxine Chinese Takeaway, savoring their delicious egg-fried rice and squid sauce.

After a breakfast of Moi Moi (bean cake), we took a scenic walk to the Hill of Tarvit Mansion and its surroundings. The farm across the road and the beautifully maintained gardens provided a serene setting for memorable photos.

We spent the afternoon in the hot tub, this time joined by Kelly and Nazanine. For dinner, Kelly treated us to a homemade Scottish Lasagne, rich and cheesy, leaving us all in awe of her culinary skills.

Horse riding had always been a dream for me and my family. We booked a 30-minute session at Barbarafield Riding School for just £20 each. The instructors guided us, making sure we felt balanced and confident on our horses. It was a breathtaking experience, one I would highly recommend to anyone looking to clear their mind and find excitement.

Our final morning was spent exploring the interior of Hill of Tarvit Mansion, thanks to the NTS staff, Dan. The history embedded in each room, from the Dutch paintings to the Renaissance-style ceilings, was overwhelming. The Mansion’s preservation efforts made it clear why this site is a treasure trove of Scottish heritage.

We ended our retreat by supporting the Nigerian Moms in Scotland at Portobello Beach in Edinburgh, where we enjoyed Nigerian food, music, and career talks. It was the perfect way to wrap up a week of cultural exploration and personal reflection.

Final Thoughts: Why Hill of Tarvit Should Be Your Next Holiday Destination

This retreat was more than just a holiday, it was a journey through time, culture, and personal connections. The Hill of Tarvit Mansion, with its rich history and serene surroundings, offers an ideal setting for anyone looking to explore Scotland’s heritage while enjoying the comforts of a well-planned vacation.

Whether you’re planning a family getaway, a cultural event, or simply need a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life, National Trust for Scotland – Hill of TarvitMansion provides a unique blend of relaxation, education, and adventure. Don’t forget to explore the nearby attractions, enjoy local cuisines, and immerse yourself in the rich history that this place has to offer.

Book your stay at the Hill of Tarvit Mansion and experience a holiday like no other.

Why Building A Personal Brand Is Important https://dwadpro.co.uk/2024/07/05/why-building-a-personal-brand-is-important/ https://dwadpro.co.uk/2024/07/05/why-building-a-personal-brand-is-important/#comments Fri, 05 Jul 2024 19:53:17 +0000 https://dwadpro.co.uk/?p=355 […]]]>

We are in an era where the attention span is getting shorter; attention has become a currency, and the need to make an impression is more important than ever. With over 4.8 billion social media users globally, (Wong, 2024) there has been an increased need to be unique and building a personal brand is the vehicle to creating a solid and memorable brand identity.

Personal branding is the process of constructing a distinctive online brand identity, typically in a professional context, as it can help you establish a strong personal reputation, gain influence and create a sense of relatability with your target audience. (Walter, 2023)

Why is a personal branding important?

There are a few reasons you should consider building a personal brand, among which are:

1. It Boosts Your Credibility:

As you share your knowledge and experiences, a personal brand makes you more relatable and trustworthy and your audience connects better with you. People want to do business with people, not faceless corporations. By creating a personal brand that highlights your unique personality, interests and quirks, you can connect with your audience on a deeper level and build long-lasting relationships. (Heitzman, 2024)

2. Increases Visibility and Recognition

As you push out content consistently, the social media platforms push your content to others and as your audience grows, so does your popularity. In addition, you have more control over your online presence. For instance, you are more likely to be checked on Google and Google will pull out all available information on you to the searcher, usually from your uploaded content.

How to build a personal brand using social media

Social media has made it easier to connect with people and to build a personal brand. A well-developed personal brand clearly communicates your unique value proposition, making it easier for decision-makers to see why you’re the best fit for new projects and opportunities (Heitzman, 2024)

Here are the steps to building a personal brand on social media.

1. Define Your Brand Identity

What do you want to be known for? What do you stand for (values)? What abilities do you possess that others can learn from (expertise, strength, weaknesses, unique perspectives). These are questions you need to answer to map out the direction of your branding.

2. Develop a personal brand statement

A personal brand statement is a succinct description of who you are, what you do, and why it matters. It should be compelling and memorable, encapsulating your unique value proposition. A solid brand statement helps focus your communication across different platforms and differentiates you from others. (Walter, 2023)
